Veterinary Specialty Appointments and Emergency Care

Thank you for placing your trust in our medical team. To help you navigate care for your pet, we have outlined our procedures below for different types of appointments. All Ethos hospitals are following CDC and local guidance to ensure the safety of all involved. Please click the link below to learn what you should do on, or before arrival at our hospital.

Please click the link or scroll down for the scenario that applies to you:

  • Is this a life-threatening Emergency?
  • It’s not life-threatening, but my pet needs medical attention and I don’t have an appointment
  • I am here for an appointment with a Specialist

Is this a Life-threatening Emergency?

If your pet is suffering from any of the symptoms of a life-threatening emergency, please follow the instructions below:

Phone: 781-932-5802

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

  • Please call ahead and briefly describe your pet’s symptoms.
  • Keep track of time and frequency of the activity. For example: “he started vomiting at 10am, he vomited 3 times … at 10:15 am there was blood in the vomit.”
  • If your pet ate something toxic, please bring the packaging, or remaining (uneaten) item.
  • Please make sure you have your pet’s leash and collar, or make sure he/she is safely inside a carrier.
    • Label all carriers, leashes, and collars with a tag or sticker identifying it as belonging to your pet. First and last name, or phone number works great! We try to keep track of these items as best we can, but labels greatly reduce the risk of being lost.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

  • When you arrive, please park and proceed to the front desk.
  • A technician will evaluate your pet and determine whether or not your pet needs to be seen for treatment immediately.
  • Depending on your pet’s symptoms, you may be informed that depending on the triage nurse’s findings we may not be able to see your pet today.
    • Please note this would only happen in the case where your pet is stable, and it is safe to be seen elsewhere.
    • Why am I being diverted to another hospital and how do you make these decisions?
  • A member of our team will ask you to fill out a Client Registration form, triage your pet, and provide instructions for next steps.

Your Pet’s Life is Not in Imminent Danger, but he/she needs Medical Attention, and you don’t have an Appointment:

Due to an extreme number of critical patients under our care, we are unable to see non-critical patients through the ER at this time. If your pet is experiencing life-threatening or critical symptoms, or you are unsure if your pets’ symptoms are considered critical, please call us.

If your pet is not currently experiencing life-threatening symptoms, please reach out to your primary veterinarian, a nearby veterinary urgent care clinic, or other local emergency hospitals at this time.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
